The main sources are:
1. The NATIONAL CURRICULUM FOR ENGLAND AND WALES (published by the DfEE in 1995 and to remain unchanged until at least 2000). Strong links exist with specific subject areas i.e. Science, English, IT and to a smaller extent History; there are also more general links with the so-called programmes of study listed in this huge document.

2.
The new proposed NATIONAL CURRICULUM FOR THE TRAINING OF TEACHERS . This will become statutory next year, i.e. teachers will need to fulfil its requirements in order to become qualified. The initial consultation statements from the TTA (Teacher Training Agency) show that this website could be used by teachers to fulfil many of the IT requirements.

3.

The NATIONAL LITERACY STRATEGY recently published by the DfEE with a foreword from David Blunkett and the outline of the now notorious Ôliteracy hourÕ. This document is not strictly statutory but in practice will determine what teachers do in the classroom because inspections and assessments will refer back to it. Several statements relate to IT competence and could be connected closely to the use of the website.
